The last session of net fishing was another great success in our sampling efforts. We recaptured three sterlets. One of the we caught for the 3rd time and another for the 5th time. In addition, we caught one fish from the 2017 releases and two new females. Using the Biomark tissue sampler we are able to do a genetic population assessment, while tagging the fish with PIT before release provides comparative capture-recapture analysis.

Besides our own continues effort to promote the sturgeon and fight for its well-being, also media is showing interest in this living fossil and our project manager was interviewed for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation Upper Austria (ORF OOE).
